In 2022, ARC Healthcare announced plans to revitalize the former Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Greenup County, which closed in 2020 after nearly 70 years of service to the community.
We are excited about the progress being made at The Bellefonte Hospital and Recovery Center. Crews have worked tirelessly for many months to improve infrastructure and renovate the facilities.
To date, tremendous progress has been made on the main hospital building. The future 300-bed substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facility on the main hospital campus will further expand access to addiction treatment resources for the local community and people across Kentucky.
Like any project, there are necessary occupancy certifications and applications for licensing and credentialing we must obtain before accepting clients. We anticipate meeting all of those requirements and opening the doors to this critical community need in the Spring of 2025.
In November 2023, ARC celebrated opening a new state-of-the-art 40-bed comprehensive behavioral health center and inpatient psychiatric hospital on the campus. Every aspect, from the rooms’ design to our staff’s specialized training, is tailor-made to ensure an environment that promotes healing, recovery, and well-being. The milestone established ARC as Kentucky’s most comprehensive addiction treatment provider.
In addition, we are excited to announce a new addition to the Bellefonte campus: a leased space in the Medical Office Building (MOB) section. This site will be the first psychiatric outpatient location added to ARC Health Systems. Currently, we are undergoing the necessary steps to begin serving clients. We hope to have that process completed by the end of the year.
